PURPOSE:To simplify a scanning optical system by reflecting laser beams radiated from one light source by plural reflecting faces of a rotary polygonal mirror which have different inclination angles respectively and exposing plural images on the different positions of an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:Laser beams 3, 6 modulated by 1st and 2nd image signals VD01, VD02 are radiated from a semiconductor laser 12 and reflected by the polygonal mirror 14 to execute raster scanning. At that time, the laser beam 3 modulated by the 1st image signal VD01 is reflected by the odd number-th reflecting faces of the rotary polygonal mirror 14 to execute raster scanning L1 and the laser beam 6 modulated by the 2nd image signal VD02 is reflected by the even number-th reflecting faces to execute raster scanning L2. Since only one semiconductor laser 12, one driver for driving the laser 12 and one rotary polygonal mirror 14 are required, the cost and size of the device can be sharply reduced. |
