PURPOSE:To accurately measure particles by providing two pulse counting circuits which count photoelectron pulses, and switching those circuits alternately and measuring photoelectron pulses in fluid continuously. CONSTITUTION:Pulse measuring circuits 20 and 21 are constituted as 8-bit counters and count photoelectron pulses in the fluid which are inputted from a terminal 14 at constant intervals of time. Those circuits 20 and 21 are selected with control signals of counters 1 and 2 sent from an arithmetic device 13 to the circuits 20 and 21. Then, which of counted values of the circuits 20 and 21 is inputted to the device 13 is selected with control signals of selections 1 and 2 sent from the device 13 to the circuits 20 and 21. Then the device 13 reads in the counted value from the selected pulse counting circuit through a data bus.
