The two drive motors (6,8) are coupled via an outgoing shaft (12) for rotation of the unit (4) on the bar (2), and are mechanically series coupled. The outgoing shaft is that for output of one of the motors (8), and on it is a flywheel (16). A brake mechanism (28) acts on the more remote end of the outgoing shaft, and the two motors are supported in a parallel arrangement by a common frame. The motor located closest to the outgoing shaft is arranged to idle when the lift cage runs downwards, and is coupled to its partner by a belt drive (20-26). Likewise, the rotatable unit (4) is coupled to the outgoing shaft by a belt drive (14,18). The bar and the rotatable unit are, respectively, a screw and a nut. |
