PURPOSE:To obtain a safe cosmetic, containing quinurenine and a salt thereof, having both ultraviolet ray absorptivity within the UV-A region and inhibitory effect on tyrosinase activity and useful for controlling liver-spot and ephelis, preventing sunburn, treating pigmentation, etc. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic obtained by blending quinurenine, which is a metabolic intermediate for tryptophan present in the human skin or hair of white rat, known to emit fluorescence and expressed by the formula and a salt thereof in an amount of about 0.1-20% in a cosmetic base. In blending, vitamins B2, B6, etc., are blended to further enhance the effects. The above-mentioned compound is a compound based on ingredients in human biological systems, has improved stability and sustains effects without skin irritation. |
