PURPOSE:To obtain a printer capable of discriminating, for itself, an IC card fitted thereto and printing, by providing a maintenance mode designating means, a means for discriminating the IC card by information stored at a specified address in the card, and a means for control for printing the information stored at a specified address. CONSTITUTION:A maintenance mode designating means B, a means C for discriminating an IC card A fitted to an IC card terminal at the time of a maintenance mode by information stored at a specified address, and a means D for control for printing the information stored in a specified address when the fitted IC card is discriminated by the discriminating means as an IC card A for emulation. When the maintenance mode is set by the maintenance mode designating means B, the discriminating means reads the information stored at the specified address in the IC card fitted through the IC card terminal, and discriminates the IC card. When the IC card is the IC card for emulation, the controlling means D causes a printer to print information indicative of the contents of the emulation IC card which information is stored at the specified address, thereby indicating what kind of IC card the fitted IC card is. |
