PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality characters and images, by composing a magnetic force generating means of a means for generating a magnetic flux at an ink recording part position and a means for generating a magnetic flux having a component in the opposite direction. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic field gradient of a magnetic flux component in x-direction at the position of an ink 303 in a recording part is positive in the x-direction due to the interaction between a magnetic flux generating means 1 (301) and a magnetic flux generating means 2 (302) which generates a magnetic flux having a component in the direction opposite to that by the generating means 1. Namely, the ink at the recording part receives a force for movement in the x-direction. When a magnetic body 305 is disposed on the opposite side of the magnetic flux generating means 1 and 2 (301 and 302) with respect to the ink 303 at the recording part, a greater moving force can be exerted. Magnetic forces applied by the magnetic flux generating means cause the magnetic ink, which is thermally activated by a heat-applying means, to be pushed out in the direction of a transfer recording medium, and accordingly, it is possible to print characters and images of extremely high quality even on a paper poor in surface smoothness, a thick paper and the like. |
