PURPOSE:To shorten the time for production and to improve yield by separately producing a recording head and playback head, then integrating both the heads by welding with a laser beam. CONSTITUTION:The contact parts of sliders 10a and 10b separately formed with the recording head 2 and the playback head 3 are welded by projecting the laser beam 11 thereto. Either of the sliders is ground down to the position of a polishing surface 12 by mechanical polishing and is polished, by which the integrated thin film magnetic head element is completed. Aluminum is deposited by sputtering evaporation to at least >=50mum as a protective layer on the separately formed recording head 2 and playback head 3 and, therefore, the deterioration of the element by the heat of the laser beam 11 at the time of the welding is prevented. |
