The invention relates to a gas lens housing for a welding torch, in particular a TIG welding torch, with an internal guide pipe for an electrode and a housing casing which surrounds the guide pipe concentrically and which, together with the guide pipe, forms an annular duct serving as a protective gas duct, a small sintered metal plate being fastened as a gas lens in the annular duct, which plate is supported internally on a step of the housing casing and/or of the guide pipe. An enlargement of the cross-section available for the outlet of the gas flow and a better gas distribution in the gas flow surrounding the electrode is achieved if the small sintered metal plate is fastened by upsetting the outer end of the guide pipe.
