A melting crucible (10) for receiving small material quantities is described, which has at least one pouring-out opening (14). The pouring-out opening (14) is provided with a filter insert (18). The filter insert (18) can have passage openings (22) separated from one another by narrow webs (20) or consist of an open-pored sponge ceramic. The fastening of the filter insert (18) in the pouring-out opening (14) can take place directly by the firing shrinkage which is produced during the burning of the melting crucible (10). <IMAGE>
