The subject of the application is a clamping device for detachable fixture of an abrasive sheet on the oscillating plate of a portable orbital sander, around whose relevant narrow sides the abrasive sheet is laid, with a wire clamp which is mounted on the upper side of the oscillating plate and has a leg extending in the vicinity of and substantially parallel to the upper edge of the oscillating plate on the relevant narrow side, and an actuating arm which is bent off approximately at right angles therefrom and, in the clamped position, rests on the upper side of the oscillating plate. In the case of such a clamping device, the forces exerted by the wire clamp on the oscillating plate are to be negligible. This is achieved in that the wire clamp is pivotable about its leg, which has at least between two mutually coaxial sections an axially parallel section eccentric thereto, either the coaxial sections or the section eccentric thereto acting directly or indirectly on the oscillating plate in the clamped position with the inclusion of the abrasive sheet.
