In the case of a series-wound commutator machine, especially a single-phase series-wound commutator motor for electric tools, having a housing (10), an excitation winding (20), commutator brushes (27) and plug connections (26), which are fixed in the housing (10) and consist of flat plugs (33) and plug sockets (36), between the excitation winding (20) and the commutator brushes (27), in order to reduce the number of plug connections required, the flat plugs (33) are clamped electrically and mechanically directly onto the excitation winding connecting leads (23) and are mounted in the housing (10) in an insulated manner. The plug sockets (36) which are constructed to be pushed onto the flat plugs (33) are mechanically and electrically connected to the connected braided cables (28) which lead to the brushes (27) (Figure 2). <IMAGE>
