In a flow rate stabiliser, in particular for water-bearing domestic appliances, with a through-flow housing (1), containing a restrictor body which is subject to a restoring force (7) and is guided to be movable in its axial direction, the working accuracy is substantially increased. The restrictor body is formed as a pot piston (8) with a shell and a bottom. In the shell, at least one flow orifice (13) is provided, and a housing section, whose cylindrical guide surface (2) matching the cross-sectional field of the shell is bounded by a control edge (5), covers the flow orifice to a variable degree. The flow orifice (13) has a width which decreases over its longitudinal extent. It is also possible to provide a plurality of flow orifices. The housing (1) can have an inner guide bore (2) which merges into a widened guide bore (3) in which the pot piston is guided by means of radial guide projections (11). <IMAGE>
