A fuel system for a multi-cylinder engine comprises a pump device driven by the engine, which device has a plurality of outlets for the connection to corresponding injection nozzles of the assigned engine, and a solenoid-operated valve arrangement for controlling the quantity of fuel to be delivered through each outlet. The valve devices are controlled by a power module 21, which receives the fuel quantity signals from a fuel circuit 23, which at a given time are delivered to the power module 21 by a distributor 22. Any engine speed change due to differences in the quantities of fuel which are injected is detected by a comparator circuit 32, which through an adjuster 29 adjusts the fuel quantity signals which are formed by the distributor 22. The comparator circuit 32 compares the engine speed over a power cycle of the engine with the engine speed over the previous power cycle of the engine.
