PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of transfer onto a medium to be transferred having low surface smoothness, by laminating at least a thermally activating ink layer and an ink transfer layer onto a heat-resistant supporting layer thus forming a thermal transfer ink medium. CONSTITUTION:An ink layer 12 and an ink transfer layer 13 are laminated onto a heat-resistant supporting layer 11 composed of polyethylene terephthalate film so as to form a thermal transfer ink medium. Numerical 21 is a thermal head which makes thermal printing on a platen 27 and adheres the ink layer 12 and the ink transfer layer 13 so as to form a latent image S portion. The thermal transfer ink medium provided with a latent image is fed to a strip roller 28 which strips PET11 and non-pixel portion ink 22 from the ink transfer layer 13 to form a visible image 12a. At the same time, the ink transfer layer 13 is softened by means of a heat roller 29 and fixed onto a medium 26 to be transferred. |
