In the process for producing fibre-reinforced plaster wallboard, ground gypsum as the dihydrate is mixed with the fibres or chips and formed under pressure into a board and then dehydrated (calcined) under the action of heat, while immediately afterwards, with cooling and condensation of the expelled steam and, if appropriate, additional moistening, the resulting hemihydrate is hardened, these process steps proceeding continuously between at least two endless revolving press belts or forming belts which, supported by pressure, first pass through a heating zone and then through a cooling zone. In an installation for carrying out the process, gaskets consisting of a temperature-resistant elastomer can be arranged on both sides of the strand of formed wallboard between press belts and/or forming belts.
