A helical roller conveyor for loading and/or unloading, in particular of piece goods, is proposed. The roller conveyor is composed of a plurality of helices which are arranged vertically one above the other, a separate drive being provided for each helix, which drive cooperates directly, via drive elements, with two supporting rollers. These supporting rollers in turn cooperate directly, via further drive elements, with the non-driven supporting rollers on both sides of the driven supporting rollers, so that every supporting roller is caused to rotate. Along with tension chains, toothed belts are also used as drive elements. <IMAGE>
