What is specified is a band-stock feed for a packaging machine, in which the set time of a time control is predetermined or set in dependence on the quantity of band being used and on the positions in which photoelectric switches are installed. A stock motor is set in rotational movement for a predetermined set time of the time control, specifically in dependence on the signal from the photoelectric switches, which indicates the absence of the band which is to be introduced in a metered quantity of band into the stock box. The signal from the photoelectric switches which detect the absence of a metered quantity of band in the stock box is thus fed to the time control which is connected to the stock motor, so that the drive motor of the stock rolls drive these in order to control the quantity of band stocked therein.
