PURPOSE:To obtain a resin for a fiber having the light transmission performance and mechanical characteristics on a par with polymethyl methacrylate and having heat resistance and durability by forming a core component of a colorless transparent resin contg. an aliphat. N-substd. maleimide monomer unit. CONSTITUTION:The the aliphat. N-substd. maleimide to be used for the core component is preferably of a hydrocarbon system having the low possibility of side reaction and having no characteristics absorption in a visible region and is further preferably a substitution product of 1-6C in terms of the balance of the mechanical characteristics, etc., of the monomer. Further, easy distillability of the monomer must be taken in consideration. The homopolymer obtd. from such monomer has about 200 deg.C glass transition temp., has high colorless transparency and satisfies the heat resistance and durability. The copolymn. of the homopolymer and methyl methacryl is necessitated in terms of the deficiency of the mechanical characteristics and cost, and a continuous polymn. method of stable material balance with which the higher cleanliness is attained is used. The polymer contg. the aligphat. N-substd. maleimide monomer unit is thus produced by the radical polymn. of the above-mentioned monomer. |
