The heater comprises a vessel (1) for the heating water, a means (12) for heating this vessel, a hot water outlet pipe (10) leaving the top part of the vessel and a return pipe (11) coming out into the bottom part of this vessel. The heater is provided with a control valve (20) connected to a control circuit comprising a means (221) for measuring the outside temperature and a temperature probe (22) connected onto the return pipe, this valve (20) being connected to the water outlet and return pipes so as to bring water, coming from the return pipe, into the hot water outlet pipe as a function of the return water temperature and taking into account the outside temperature.
