PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of a magnetic recording medium by recording two different kinds of image FM signals or image digital signals on the same track of the magnetic recording medium almost in the same depth by two kinds of heads forming a prescribed gap angle and reproducing the signals based on azimuth separation loss. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 5 is wound around a rotary cylinder 6. Two heads 7A, 7B are arranged on the same periphery of the cylinder 6 in parallel, the gap angle is set up so as to form + or -45 deg. from the advancing directions of the heads 7A, 7B and a step corresponding to a track pitch (d) is formed on head fitting plates 9 so that signal records are superposed to each other. Two different kinds of image FM signals or image digital signals are recorded on the same track of the magnetic tape 5 almost in the same depth by the two heads 7A, 7B. At the time of reproduction, these signals are reproduced based on the azimuth separation loss of the heads 7A, 7B. Consequently, recording density can be double. |
