Heavy metal-containing residues formed during the removal of heavy metals from wet-process phosphoric acid using dialkyldithiophosphoric acids and, if necessary, an adsorbent are converted into solid disposable products which are suitable for land-filling by thoroughly mixing the heavy metal-containing residues which have been separated off from the purified phosphoric acid with such an amount of solid basic substances that a 20% by weight aqueous suspension of the product formed has a pH of 5 to 12, preferably 7 to 10.
