<p>The present invention relates to a printer of the type which comprises means for receiving sets of print data each representing a line of characters to be printed on a print medium, a print head for performing print operations in accordance with the sets of print data, means for moving the print head relative to the print medium, and a control system for controlling the velocity of movement of the print head and for controlling the print operations. According to the invention the printer is characterised in that the control system comprises means for selecting the velocity of movement of the print head in accordance with the characteristics of each set of print data.</p> |
