PURPOSE:To increase the ratio of pressure receiving area of a pad to a thrust runner so as to restrict cavitation by annularly arranging plural fan-shaped thrust pads, which support the thrust runner, through narrow spaces, and opening an oil filler hole to the end portion of the pad on the rotational direction side. CONSTITUTION:In the case that there appears the symptom of any cavitation due to negative pressure on the end portion of a pad 1 on the rotational direction side, pressure oil is supplied from an oil filler hole 3 opening to said portion. And, oil film pressure is kept higher than the atmospheric pressure so as to prevent the phenomenon of absorbing bubbles in surroundings. In addition, respective pads 1 are mutually adjacent to each other through a narrow space (g), so that the bubble amount staying in a space between pads 1 can be remarkably restricted in comparison with devices having the conventional constitution. Moreover, although the space (g) is narrow, temperature-up oil and cold oil supplied from the oil filler hole 3 are mixingly heat-exchanged in a sliding portion, hence rendering it possible to maintain the lubricating function. |
