PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound effective in inhibiting angiotensinase and useful as a remedy for hypertension, etc., advantageously on an industrial scale, by culturing a microbial strain belonging to Basidiobolus genus and capable of producing nicotianamine and collecting the compound accumulated in the cultured product. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to Bacidiobolus genus and capable of producing nicotianamine of formula [e.g. Basidiobolus meristosporus MK3988 (FERM p-8983 is cultured in a nutrient medium to produce and accumulated nicotianamine in the cultured product. The cultured liquid is centrifuged and the obtained supernatant liquid is subjected successively to the treatment with a cation exchange resin column, an anion exchange resin column and an activated carbon column to obtain the objective compound. |
