PURPOSE:To obtain a gel generator with a means for detecting the gelation of polyacrylamide, by irradiating an acrylamide liquid with light. CONSTITUTION:An acrylamide liquid 2 is irradiated with light from a light irradiation means 4 and the scattered light from the acrylamide liquid 2 is detected by a detection means 6. An arithmetic section 8 judges the completion of the gelation from the intensity of the scattered light as the output of the means 6. To achieve this, the arithmetic section 8 is provided with a maximum detection means 10 which detects that the intensity of the scattered light reaches its maximum after the start o the gelation and a plateau detection means 12 which detects that the intensity of the scattered light is more than the specified times as compared with the state before the gelation while it reaches a plateau part with less hourly changes. As gelation begins, the intensity of the scattered light once attains is maximum, then, it settles after reaching the maximum point and becomes flat with a gradual reduction in the hourly change. At the flat part (plateau), the gelation is completed. |
