PURPOSE:To expand the width of a slab by specifying the width of the projecting peripheral face formed to the tip of annular projecting part provided at one point on the outer circumference in the cylindrical part of each rolling roll and rolling the slab with horizontal rolls after moving the same by each one pass. CONSTITUTION:Each of the cross rolling rolls used for cross rolling of the slab 1 is provided with the annular projecting part 3 at one point on the outer circumference in the cylindrical part of the upper and lower rolling rolls 2 and the width G of the projecting peripheral face 3a thereof has the relation W/10<=G<=W/2 with the width W of the slab 1. The position of the center 3ap of the projecting peripheral face 3a of the annular projecting part 3 is adjusted to exist to either of the lateral sides from the center 1p of the width W of the slab 1 in case of rolling the slab 1. This position relation is reversed on the opposite side beyond the center 1p of the slab 1 in the next pass. The slab is passed >=1 times and is rolled by the ordinary horizontal rolls after this rolling. The slab 1 subjected to the large cross rolling of the flat surfaces having no hollow lines is thereby obtd. |
