PURPOSE:To reduce the pressure drop of passing gas, by a method wherein a wall part through which a recessed discharge gas inlet surface and a protruded discharge gas outlet surface communicate with each other is formed into a porous structure and an outer cover body is integrally connected to the wall part so as to provide a predetermined interval outside the wall part. CONSTITUTION:The discharge gas entering a gas passage 2 through an opening 4 passes through the porous structural part of a wall part 1 from a discharge gas inlet surface 1a and reaches a discharge gas outlet surface 1b to be discharged. The wall part 1 has a shape capable of forming the gas passage 2 and the discharge gas inlet surface 1a facing the gas passage 2 is recessed and the discharge gas outlet surface 1b becomes protruded. Therefore, the wall areas of both outlet and inlet surfaces 1a, 1b become large and the pressure drop of the wall part 1 can be reduced. A catalyst carrier can be easily held in a metal case by the outer cover body 5 arranged outside the wall part 1 and directly and integrally provided to the side surface where an opening 4 is positioned. |
