<p>PURPOSE:To produce a large amount of the titled compound such as scopolamine, hyoscyamine, etc., useful as an analgesic, etc., by using a tissue of a plant capable of producing a tropane-type alkaloid and subjecting the tissue to tissue culture in a medium containing sulfur-containing amino acids and oxyamino acids. CONSTITUTION:A tissue (e.g. leaf) of a plant capable of producing a tropane- type alkaloid (e.g. Duboisia myoporoides) is thoroughly washed, sterilized, placed on an agar medium and cultured at room temperature. The indefinite root produced simultaneous to the formation of callus is cut off and subjected to tissue culture in a medium containing 0.3-10mM of a sulfur-containing amino acid (e.g. methionine) and/or an oxyamino acid (e.g. serine). The indefinite root produced by the tissue culture is dried and extracted with a basic chloroform-methanol mixture to obtain the objective alkaloid.</p> |
