PURPOSE:To provide a Bacillus subtilis strain containing an extracellular protease production promoting gene of Bacillus genus bacterium in a chromosome gene, having lowered extracellular protease activity and capable of producing desired protein in high efficiency. CONSTITUTION:A protease-producing gene originated from Bacillus genus bacterium is introduced into a Bacillus subtilis having lowered extracellular protease activity to obtain a host strain having further lowered protein decomposition activity compared with the parent strain. A desired protein is secreted and produced in high efficiency by combining the above strain with a protease gene or a recombinant DNA produced by linking a desired protein gene to a DNA base sequence originated from the protease gene.
