PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of press molding and to obtain a molding having a projecting rib of high strength, by cutting in advance long glass fibers in a synthetic resin plate at the place where the projecting rib is to be formed before press molding. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic resin plate 6 having an inner layer of long glass fibers 2 and whose softened melt viscosity is low is supplied to a cutting apparatus 8, and the long glass fibers 2 in the synthetic resin plate 6 is cut by means of a cutting blade 9 at the place where a projecting rib is to be formed. The heated synthetic resin plate 6 is placed between a top force 7 and a bottom force 4 for press molding, and is press-molded. In this case, the molten synthetic resin which is in a lower layer part of the synthetic resin plate 6 flows into a groove 5 for forming a rib on the bottom force 4, and the molten synthetic resin which is in an upper layer part of the synthetic resin plate 6 also flows into a groove 5 for forming the rib from the cut part of the long glass fibers 2, because the glass long fiber 2 is cut in advance at the place where the projecting rib is to be formed. The cut ends of the long glass fibers 2 also flow into the groove 5 for forming the rib accompanied with the resin flow, and reach near the bottom of the groove for forming the rib 5. |
