The cable has a central core (1) which may be a single or multi-strand conductor. Surrounding the core is a layer of insulating material, e.g. PVC, which has the require characteristic impedance. Around the insulating layer (2) is the e.m. screen (3) made of a meshed network woven from threads of two different metals, e.g. copper and galvanised iron.S The against (5) of cross-woven metal threads form a coverage of 96% of the surface. The bundles of copper threads are 0.25mm thick while the iron thread bundles are 0.3 mm thick. The outer insulated cover (4) protects the cable bundles mechanical damage and climatic effects.S ADVANTAGE : Screens core against e.m. interference at frequencies of up to 50 MHz.
