PURPOSE:To readily obtain a copolymer by grafting, through a novel process, polyorganosiloxane side chain to a poly-disubstituted acetylene to introduce any quantity of polyorganosiloxane component without decreasing the molecular weight of the product. CONSTITUTION:First, a poly-disubstituted acetylene carrying C=C bond-contg. group in the side chain is allowed to react, pref. at <=0 deg.C, with a strong base (pref. an organolithium compound such as methyllithium) followed by reaction with a cyclohexane compound of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are each alkyl, phenyl, etc.; m is integer, 3-6). Thence, a triorganohalogenosilane compound of formula II (R<3>-R<6> are each the same as R<1>; X is halogen) is added to the reaction system to terminate the reaction, thus obtaining the objective poly-disubstituted acetylene/polyorganosiloxane graft copolymer carrying polyorganosiloxane in the side chain. The poly-disubstituted acetylene mentioned above is, e.g., poly(2-hexyne). |
