PURPOSE:To contrive a smaller printer, by bending a rear part of a head relative to a tip part of the head so that the rear part becomes substantially parallel to a platen. CONSTITUTION:A head 30 has a rear part 32 bent relative to a tip electrode part 31 at a predetermined angle theta, e.g., 45 deg.. The bending direction is so set that the rear part 32 becomes substantially parallel to a platen 11 when the head is mounted on a carriage. Since the rear part 32 is not extended rearward at an angle to the platen, there is no need for surplus space in the vicinity of the head, and accordingly, it is possible to dispose a ribbon cassette 18 closer to the platen 11 and to make a printing mechanism part compact in construction. Therefore, space in the vicinity of the head is saved, and space saving is achieved. |
