<p>The ammonium salt of 1-(D-ribofuranosyl) 1,2,4-triazole 3-carboxamide 5'-phosphate, for use as an anti-viral agent, is made by (a) reaction of the methyl ester of 1-(beta-D-ribofuranosyl) 1,2,4-triazole 3-carboxylic acid, trimethyl phosphate and POCl3 at 0 deg. C; (b) neutralising the resultant mixt. with aq. NaHCO3 soln.; (c) sepn. of the aq. phase and saturation with ammonia; (d) filtration and concn.; (e) soln. of the ppt. in suitable solvent; and (f) fractional crystallisation.</p> |
