PURPOSE:To record information in a transfer speed twice as high as the transfer speed for 9 tracks by arranging 18 tracks on a magnetic tape and distributing 9-track input information to 18 tracks to record it. CONSTITUTION:An 18-track write instruction signal line 20 is provided newly. A write control circuit 5 outputs a signal, which writes 18-track information onto the tape, through an 18-track signal line 21 and gives its indication to a recording distributor 22. The distributor 22 distributes 9-track information, which comes through a bus out 1, to 18 tracks, and for example, the first row of this information is distributed to track numbers 1-9, and the second row is distributed to track numbers 10-18, and the third row is distributed to track numbers 1-9, and the fourth row is distributed to track numbers 10-18. Distributed information are sent to a write driving circuit 7A for track numbers 1-9 and a write driving circuit 7B for track numbers 10-18 through data bus lines 23 and 24. Circuits 7A and 7B record data independent of each other on individual tracks of the magnetic tape. |
