A coating present in a flowable form and consisting of a mill-ground slip of the compounding material of the object, is applied to the visible side of the object before firing. The stain-resistant object is claimed per se. - Pref. (a) Liquefiers are added to the compounding material during grinding to a slip. (b) The coating is applied in a layer-thickness of 60-70 micron. (c) The compounding material is ground to an extent such that the coarsest grain present in the slip is several times finer than the coarsest grain of the compounding material of the object.
