PURPOSE:A couple of electrodes are inserted into a cell suspension to measure differential currents to effect clear distinguishment and identification between individual cells. CONSTITUTION:A suspension of cells of, e.g., fungi or actinomycetes, erythrocytes, leukocytes, tumor cells or cultivated animal or plant cells is poured into a cell for differential pulse polarography which is composed of the cell 4 equipped with the action electrode 1, the opposite electrode 2 and the reference electrode of saturated sodium chloride calomel electrode 3, pulse sequencer 5, potential programmer 6, potentiostat 7, drop knocker 8, i/E converter 9, sample holds (tau, tau') 10, 11, difference assembly 12 and recorder 13. An increasingly scanning or sweeping potential resulting from accumulation of micropotentials is applied to between the electrodes to measure the occurring current and obtain a current- potential curve which gives clear peak potentials differing according to the kinds of cells.
