PURPOSE:To enable the repeated use of a transfer film, eliminate ground staining, and stabilize a printing density, by a method wherein a gas-permeable film or a felt pen is travelled in the condition that the felt pen consisting of a vessel containing a low-boiling solution of a sublimating dye and a pen-point is in contact with the surface of a dye layer short of dye at the pen-point thereof. CONSTITUTION:A felt pen 1 in use is brought into contact with the surface of a dye layer 4 by a spring 8 mounted on a carriage 6. A thermal head 2 is travelled according to an image signal to abut against the surface of the sublimating dye layer 4 of a gas-permeable film 3 for heating. In this manner, a dye gas is generated due to sublimation out of the heated portion and applied to an accepting sheet 7 provided under a platen roll 5 through the gas-permeable film 3, whereby an image is formed. On the other hand, the carriage 6 travels on the dye layer 4 as the thermal head 2 travels for printing, and a pen-point 1b of the felt pen 1 travels while being in contact with the surface of the dye layer 4 having portions short of dye, whereby a dye solution exuding from the pen-point 1b by small amounts is supplied to the portions short of dye. As a result, the portions short of dye are regenerated. |
