PURPOSE:To repeatedly use a transfer ribbon or sheet, by a method wherein a liquid dye is transferred to a gas permeable membrane gradually from the emitting orifice of an injection device to form a dye layer and a heating element is heated corresponding to an image signal to generate dye gas which is, in turn, transmitted through the gas permeable membrane to form an image on the receiving sheet arranged so as to be contacted with or close to said membrane. CONSTITUTION:As a thermal head 2 moves for the sake of printing, a carrier 5 moves so as to slide on a gas permeable membrane 3 and a piezoelectric element 8 to which a dye replenishing signal 10 is applied pressurizes a volatile dye-containing liquid substance to inject the same from a jet nozzle 7 and a dye layer is formed on the gas permeable membrane 3. Simultaneously with the return of the piezoelectric element 8, the liquid substance in a liquid container 9 is replenished to an ink jet device. Dye gas is generated from the dye film preliminarily applied corresponding to the image signal of the thermal head 2 and passes through the gas permeable membrane 3 to form an image on the receiving sheet 6 held by a planten roll 4. By this method, the dye is supplied to a ribbon from which the dye is lost by printing and the ribbon is made repeatedly usable. |
