<p>PURPOSE:To collect a remarkable amount of a physiologically active substance, by containing polyvinylpyrrolidone in an ordinary basal culture medium and cultivating lymphatic cells with a composition for multiplying lymphatic cells containing blood serum in a smaller amount than normal one or without adding the blood serum. CONSTITUTION:Polyvinylpyrrolidone having 10,000-1,200,000 average molecular weight is added to a basal culture medium used for cultivating lymphatic cells, e.g. Iscove's culture medium, Ham's culture medium, L-15 culture medium, etc., to give about 0.001-10% (wt./vol.) concentration to provide a composition for multiplying the lymphatic ells. Insulin, transferrin, ethanolamine, selenious acid, etc., may be added to the above-mentioned composition. Blood serum is not added or the amount thereof is less than the normal one if it added. Iymphatic ells, e.g. human, rat, mouse, cattle, etc., are cultivated with the above- mentioned composition to efficiently produce a physiologically active substance at a low cost.</p> |
