The arrangement according to the invention for taking samples of the bottom sediment in basins comprises a vertical core tube 1 which is made up of sections and has a closed upper end 2 provided with a non-return valve 6, a ballast weight 7 and rod-like vertical supports 11. To achieve uniform contact with the bottom of the basin, the arrangement is provided with shock-absorber units 12 in the form of hollow cylinders 13 with closed ends and with a piston 15 in each cylinder 13.
