The door which is normally held closed by bolts actuated by levers can be made secure against unauthorised opening. A bar with an elongated hole in each end is fitted over the bolt actuation levers. A lug, welded to the mid-point of the bar, has a hole to receive the hasp of a padlock and so enables the bar to be locked to the door handle. The bar prevents the bolt actuating levers from being rotated in the direction of the arrows so the bolts cannot be released. The bar may be made in two parts hinged together. USE - Locking of fire doors of unoccupied buildings.
