PURPOSE:To carry out automatic alignment between the surface of a head and the front edge of an area on an ink sheet to be applied with ink, by providing a control section for carrying the ink sheet upon finish of connection through a connecting means and starting the recording operation from the time point when a detector detects the alignment between the front end of the area to be applied with ink and the surface of a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:When a movable frame 20 is closed, an engaging projection 52a of a drive coupling shaft 52 is contacted with the head portion of the coupling shaft 42 of an ink sheet cartridge 40. In other words, the winding core 47 of the ink sheet cartridge 40 and the drive coupling shaft 52 of an ink sheet cartridge operating device 60 are coupled through a coupling means. An ink sheet detector facing with a reflection bar 35 of the ink sheet cartridge 40 and detecting the position of the front edge of an area on an ink sheet 46 to be applied with ink is provided with reflection photo-sensors 101, 101' for detecting black marks 46b, 46c at the opposite side ends on the ink sheet 46. |
