The invention relates to a process and an apparatus (10) for flow cytometry, in which laser light pulses are focused on an encased flow and a static image of cells passing through the region of the focal point is recorded by a combination of objective lens (24) and CCD camera (26). The static image is processed and analysed in order to obtain information concerning the form and internal condition of individual cells.
