PURPOSE:To decrease wire disconnections and to improve reliability by combining a magnetic encoder which detects the number of >=1 rotations, etc., and an optical absolute value encoder which detects an absolute angle within one rotation on the same shaft. CONSTITUTION:The optical absolute encoder which detects the absolute angle within one rotation consists of a rotary disk 2 fitted on a shaft 1, an LED 4, a fixed slit 5, etc., and the magnetic encoder which detects many rotations consists of a rotary disk 81 provided a magnet 82 at a rotary part, a magnetoresistance element 9 which detects the number of the rotations, etc. Then when a source voltage is supplied, a voltage detecting circuit 13 operates to send a signal to control circuits 17 and 12 and the circuit 17 operates to transmits the multirotation detection signal of the shaft 1 to a reception-side circuit as series data of a channel A with a start-stop synchronizing signal. Then an absolute value signal detected by an absolute value encoder is transmitted as the incremental pulses of channels A and B and the reception-side circuit detects the absolute position after multirotation from both signals. |
