Filter elements for dust filters are attached in a separating plate between the dusty gas and the clean gas side and are enclosed by a housing furnished with a dusty gas entry, clean gas outlet and dust outlet. The gases to be purified flow through the filter elements from the outside to the inside. They can be cleaned from the dust adhering to the outside of the filter sheet by means of a cleaning apparatus to be actuated by compressed gas by back-flushing in a periodic sequence. Taking over the good properties of the filter elements in hose form, in addition, several times the filter surface area is to be accommodated in the same space. For this purpose, the filtering exterior of the filter element is formed from cells running in a wedge shape and arranged one after the other in rows around the middle axis of the filter element, which cells are similar to a hose at their top end and at their bottom end combine in a star shape on a central line which is arranged in the direction of the individual cell bisecting lines.
