Shaft protection sleeve for sliding bearings and sliding surfaces of seals and stuffing box packings

The invention relates to an anti-rotation safeguard for shaft protection sleeves 1 of shafts 2 for sliding bearings and sliding surfaces of seals and stuffing box packings. The shaft protection sleeve 1 is secured against rotation relative to the shaft 2 by means of oblique contact surfaces 5 and 6 between the shaft protection sleeve 1 and the bush 4 placed in front of it. The contact surfaces 5, 6 form an angle delta < 90@ with the centre line of the shaft. The bush 4 placed in front, which is made of steel, can be shrunk or screwed onto the shaft 2. The particular advantage of the locking of the shaft protection sleeve 1 in accordance with the invention is that the sleeve is composed of carbide or ceramic and machining of the latter for shaft feather keys or driver pins is eliminated. An anti-rotation safeguard of this kind can be employed for preference in pump bearing arrangements and seals and in stuffing box packings since abrasive media there lead to rapid wear (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
