The device for fastening a tension element to a rod, for example for fastening a trapeze line end to the boom of a sailboard rig (20), consists of a piece of tubing (30) inside which a leading surface (38) is shaped. In an extension of the piece of tubing (30) there is removed a wedging element (36), onto which the leading surface (38) runs in the locking position. A stop (34) is formed in the piece of tubing (30), which meets a stop face (40) on the wedging element (36) to release the fastening device, so that the wedging element can be shifted on the rod (20) together with the tube element (30). To lock it, the tension element (46) is pulled, causing the piece of tubing and the wedging element to become wedged again. <IMAGE>
