A power cylinder (1) has a piston (3) which actuates a slide (11) using belts (5). The belts are attached to opposite faces of the piston (3) and pass through seals at each end of the cylinder. Each belt then passes around a guide pulley (9) and is then attached to the slide (11). A magnetic band (14) is mounted on a plastic strip on the outside of the cylinder (1). A sensor (15) attached to the slide (11) generates signals as it passes along the magnetic band. These signals are fed to a device which indicates the piston position. |
