PURPOSE:To prevent such a case where a transaction is unsatisfied owing to an amount exceeding a preferential deposit limit, by defining the smaller one of an acceptable amount received from a center and the maximum depositable amount of an automatic transaction device itself as the actual maximum depositable amount. CONSTITUTION:When a transaction card is put into a card reader/printer 23 or a bankbook is put into a bankbook register 25, the customer information on an account number, etc., are read and a deposit transaction start message is sent to a center 3 from an automatic transaction device (terminal) 1 via a communication controller 2. When the cash is thrown into a cash slot of a reception/payment machine 24, a note recognition/analysis part 26 discriminates the types of cash and the cash genuineness to count the cash and pools temporarily the cash. Then comparison is performed between the thrown cash amount and the smaller one of the acceptable amount (preferential deposit limit amount - customer's balance) received from the center 3 and the maximum depositable amount of the device 1. Then a fact that the thrown cash amount is larger than those limit amounts is displayed on a CRT display device 21.
